Catastrophic Case Management

Archer Consultants provides the full scope of medical case management services for injured workers and individuals who have  experienced a catastrophic injury due to trauma for persons with serious/chronic illness.  Our medical case management approach is based on the proactive approach of coordination and case management of all aspects of claimant’s care thereby controlling costs. In claims management unnecessary lost time  is money wasted.  The sooner our specialized case management professionals are notified of a catastrophic or high dollar claim the faster they can begin to work with your claimant. Our case managers move quickly to clarify the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and determine the usual recovery time.  Within hours of receiving the assignment, our staff  contacts the appropriate persons for the initial consultation.  We are committed to assisting the claimant in gaining maximum medical improvement within the shortest time period.  We work with the injured worker, physician, other care providers and the employer to coordinate a return to work with or without accommodation, as needed.

In those catastrophic cases where return to work may not be the main issue,  we work with the patient, insurer, family, and care providers to assure cost effective, quality care with the attainment of mutual goals. This  strategy is extremely effective in helping control claims cost.  For example, as a result of our review of a claimant’s file we reduced future medical costs by 50% when we found certain treatments and prescriptions provided were not related to the injury. In another case the claimant required frequent transportations to and from the doctors.  We saved additional claims dollars through the use of  our transportation program by utilizing our approved providers saving our customer additional dollars per visit.

All of our negotiations of the claim costs enabled us to reduce the hospital bill prepayment and achieved a maximum savings for our customer without sacrificing any quality of care to the claimant.  We reviewed all of the bills using our in house medical bill review process and were able to reduce the bill by an additional 40%. We reduced the billing through negotiation by 30%. All savings are signed off in writing by the providers.

The Catastrophic Case Manager is Responsible to initiate:

Early intervention services to respond to the immediate needs of the injured individual, This helps ensure  that the expedited & appropriate care is being administered, coordinate and to involve family support,also to obtain services  from trained professionals, and to provide frequent and timely communication to the employer/insurance company.

The goals are:

  • A medical case management program which is developed and focuses on maximum recovery by implementing a comprehensive plan facilitating the most appropriate treatment and services.
  • That the family is also involved and all the providers work toward the same goal. In addition frequent & timely communication is enhanced to the bill payer.
